Gyeongju World Culture EXPO 2011 Various Events Such As Performance, Display To Be Held Until Oct. 10

About 100 events with performance, exhibition, Gyeongju Tower show, and participatory events.

The meeting spot of global culture, Gyeongju World Culture EXPO 2011 will be held in the cultural heritage, Gyeongju for 60days from August 12 to October 10 at Gyeongju World Culture EXPO Park and Gyeongju vicinity.

It is held under the theme, The Story of Millennium-Love, Light and Nature with 47 participating nations in 590,000㎡ park.


The Story of Millennium has been designed to remind the brilliant thousand-year-old Silla culture for about thousand years and the Silla people’s story and wisdom. And we are giving our visitors the chance of imagination for the next millennium to create a new vision.

Gyeongju World Culture EXPO 2011 is hosted by Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government and Gyeongju City and organized by Gyeongju World Culture EXPO Organizing Committee.

It is consisted of 4 main parts, Official events, Performances, Films and Exhibitions with 20 core contents and more than 100 events.

As special events, there are approximately 20 events such as Additional Events, Street Events, and Subsidiary Events.

Official events include Opening Ceremony, National Day, City, Province & County Days (including 15 provinces, 23 cities and counties) and Closing ceremony

In Performances, there are non-verbal fusion martial arts performance FLYing by well-known Director of Nanta and Bibap Choi, Chulki, Feature performance by Cheongdong Theater, The Land of Gods, Silla and World Dance Festival to show the essence of World performing Arts.

There are many films and one of them is a 3D animation film “Byeokrucheon", which is the main movie of Gyeongju World Culture EXPO. Also, the main actor and actress appear in the movie. Also Gyeongju Tower multi-media show gives the visitors to experience the famous Silla nights focusing on the moonlight.

As exhibitions, there are theme exhibitions (The story of Millennium), cultural trips all around the world with the world folklore dolls in World Folklore Doll Exhibition, World Traditional Culture Hall and world Fossil Museum.

Particularly, this year’s events include Special Day in every quarter of 60 days.

Starting is an Opening ceremony (August 11th), Special Big Event (August 27th).

Hangawi Festival(September 21st), and World Buddhist Culture Festival (September 24th) with World Buddhist circle and Korean Buddhist Circle.

Additional Events are World Folklore Market, Silla Dressing Experience, building Wish Pond Pagoda, and building ghost Bridge and sending Christmas cards.

Street festival includes special night performances such as street performance, street art festival, traditional culture experiences, multicultural festival and national Hwarang Twekwon Dance Contest.

Subsidiary Events are World Best Circus that shows various circuses from Russia, China and Philippines, Miniature Architectural Exhibition, International Academic Conference of Sillanlogy.
